It's like stepping into the past when climbing up to the lobby. Fine woodworking abound. The customer service was exceptional, and they were accommodating with our luggage since our departure was for mid afternoon.
We enjoyed the small livingroom with views of the landscape.

Great place

This hotel is great. The service is excellent. The staff is really friendly. I ordered breakfast and is really good. I recommend this hotel if you stop by and visit Salamina - Caldas. The location is just less than a block of the central square, in the middle of everything

Great location, price

Went to salamina in the middle seat of a 30 year old hyundai taxi with bald tires from Manizales. When we got there, the man next to me asked where I was staying, I said I was probably going to hotel colonial. He said the best place in town was casa de lola, but the taxi went by Casa real. I asked is it good? he said yeah. I checked in without asking the price.
2 nights in a nice room. Quiet, comfortable, all I could want (if you an early riser, the hot water is a tank on the roof and the early shower is chilly).
When i checked out, the woman said 60,000. I said no, I was here for 2 nights not one. She said yeah, 30,000 a night ($11). I almost moved in right there. How much could a month be?

The place is nice on very busy street

We asked for a room with a window. It turns our that there are only 2 such rooms in the hotel and both face the street which is the main entrance to town. We declined to take it due to the excessive noise and had to move into a room WITHOUT any window. It was unpleasant. Breakfast is served in a restaurant across the street and consists of eggs, arepa, rice, a slice of fresh cheese and coffee or hot chocolate. WiFi worked outside the room.

Very good central hotel at good rates

We stayed almost 3 weeks in this hotel (yes 3 weeks no mistake!). The reason is that we have a daughter who has chosen to live in Salamina, this quiet but lively town, with her partner. With the arrival of our grand daughter there was no room for us at their home. We enjoyed the hotel. All rooms have en suite shower with hot water always available. The double bed is a small double and I worried that we would be uncomfortable on hot nights but the weather is nice there and nights are cool and a plus, each room has a fan anyway if necessary, so we had no problem. We had coffee served in the morning from the traditional greca coffee machine and it was strong and excellent. Wi-fi is available but as we had the last bedroom in the corridor we had to go nearer to the reception to get on line. Staff were very nice and friendly and made us feel at home. Very close to the main square and yet quiet in the rooms away from the street. I am sure we will return
