Lovely experience

The hotel was very nice and the staff very accommodating. I arrived very late (it is specified that the desk closes at 10pm) due to flight delays and they opened up no problem at all, and every request I had they more than sorted. I really enjoyed the stay, and while the location is in a business district, I would highly recommend the hotel.

NOT YOUR WORST ENEMY.

Dismal experience, outdated facilities and crying out for reform. Located on the periphery of the capital in the middle of nowhere. We had problems with the bathroom (basin and shower), reported the incidence to be fixed while we were away (no maintenance 24hrs) and when we arrived, the situation had worsened (the water from the sink was coming out underneath and the shower did not drain the water). They had to change our rooms. We had to go down to reception several times because the coded card (key) was not working. A real misuse.

It's not a 4* hotel. It's an Inn.

The hotel is a 20-minute drive from Zagreb.
More than a hotel, let alone 4*, it resembles a Wedding-ready Inn and groups of unsuspecting tourists, like me.
The room they gave me was minimal and there was no room to even open the bags.
Likewise the bathroom was minuscule and with a bathtub deep and raised above the floor that was scary to leave it.
Breakfast and dinner were scarce and if something ran out at the buffet they no longer replenished it. Long queues at the buffet because if you arrived from the last there was nowhere to choose.

Worse than an Inn... if there are so many negative reviews, it will be for something!

There are much better hostels in Spain than the Hotel Phoenix in Zagreb. To call such a hole a hotel is to be very benevolent. Leaving aside the dubious taste with which it is decorated, first of all it must be said that it is in the middle of nowhere, very far from Zagreb. Secondly, I would mention the food, which is a real spleen, and the staff, which is not the slightest bit professional. But what must undoubtedly be highlighted are the rooms, dirty and with the furniture in terrible condition. Above all, be careful if you are given a room on the third floor: to begin with, the elevator does not go up to that floor and you have to go up with your bags; but that is not the worst, the rooms are under the deck and do not have air conditioning (and if they do, it does not work), which is horrible hot considering the temperatures that it is in Croatia in summer...
Anyway, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, and I certainly wouldn't come back even if I had to sleep under a bridge.
