Basic but comfortable
The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, the staff were friendly and very helpful, the price was right, and the sound-proofing on the windows worked well. If you plan on spending a lot of time in your room, this is probably the wrong choice - accommodation is comfortable enough, but not stylish or particularly spacious. Our bathroom was also inexplicably lacking in bath plugs, although that wasn't a problem for us, as we used the shower.
Breakfast isn't worth paying extra for unless you REALLY like empty carbs, but there's a convenient supermarket next door and a boulangerie around the corner.
We'll definitely consider using L'Auberge du Cheval Noir for future gig trips - it's ideal for our requirements.
