We really enjoyed our stay while in NZ. This location is right on the beach so it is a perfect spot to relax and go for walks. We visited the seal colony which was fantastic! We had a whale watching excursions planned but unfortunately was cancelled due to bad weather. Overall, a wonderful experience!

Fabulous hotel

Fabulous hotel. From the moment we walked in, before check in time, we were warmly welcomed. A room was made available immediately. It was clean, comfortable, modern and simple but had everything we needed and more. The view was awesome: mountains and beach out of floor to ceiling windows in a non-sea view room! Fantastic!

Super staff and great outlook make this a lovely hotel.

The staff here were the most friendly and helpful we have encountered on our 5 weeks in Australia and NZ. We had our room changed to one with a great view of the snow tipped mountains without any quibble and good advise on best sights. The pool proved a lovely oasis on a hot afternoon after lots of walking. Town and its range of restaurants can be reached by a 10 minute flat walk and the Pier Hotel a similar distance the opposite way. We walked 30 minutes further than the Pier and found a good spot from seal watching. The BBQ lunch along this coastal walk is a treat too!

Very good hotel for a stay in Kaikoura

The place is still very new, nicely decorated and everything was very clean. Also nice on warm days is the pool, as you can feel a Mediterranean flair in Kaikōura.
The location is also good. One is separated from the sea only by a road. On foot you are in 10-15 minutes in the village center where there are various restaurants and cafes.
We had not tried the in-house restaurant.
There were two small things that make the difference between a 4-point and 5-point rating: For one thing, the staff was not as friendly/open as we have otherwise experienced on our trip.
On the other hand, it smelled like algae/seagrass in our room in the morning - probably through the ventilation.

Epic sunrise views!

A wonderful stay at this hotel, clean, updated, friendly staff. But the views from this hotel are epic! The sunrise from a 4th floor room was just unreal! The outdoor swimming pool was an added bonus. The food in the restaurant was good, nice breakfast.
