Great hospitality and food!

My friends and I stayed here for two nights during our Sri Lanka trip. The family were incredibly welcoming and attentive! They provided excellent authentic food and comfortable basic accommodation. This is an ideal base to go on the elephant safari in Minneriya National Park which the family are more than happy to arrange. Would 100% recommend. Thank you!

Location is good. Lots of ants and insects in the room. Host was welcoming. But be aware of food cost. Ask price before ordering. We order seafood dinner for three. He made combination of fish, calamari, tiny crabs and few shrimp and charged 50 dollars(water for drink). We paid as we did not ask before eating. Then he came back and ask 800 rupees for driver’s break fast. We paid. A minute later he came for driver’s accommodation cost. At that point we said, NO. We stayed 2 weeks in Sri Lanka. This was the most expensive dinner and everywhere else, driver’s dormitory was provided. Also, we stayed in some upscale properties and dinner never cost as much.

Restaurant

Although we did not stay in the guest house we had a very delicious meal in the restaurant and was surprisingly given a free dessert of pineapple and bananas. The owner was very pleasant and we wouldn't hesitate to go back

Good value for money

The guest house is a little off the main road. It would be hard to find on your own and our tour guide, Krishan Fernando, had to call them for help in directions. So if you are thinking about having meals nearby, maybe that isn't a good idea. It's quite dark in the area. Better have dinner somewhere before going back to the hotel or just have dinner there.
My group of 6 booked 3 rooms for one night here. It's a quiet place. Rooms are very big and new. The sheets were clean. There was no smell in the room, even the bathroom. The air conditioning was sufficient but beware the last room. The unit has probably not been cleaned for a while. It froze up and in the middle of the night, cold water dripped on the bed. Yes, the unit is on top of the bed. This problem though could easily be fixed with a little cleaning which I hope they did.
Breakfast was too much! It came free with our stay but my gosh. We couldn't finish all the food they served us. It was good home cooked meals too. Very yummy. In terms of food there at Paradise, the only con was because when we had our guide call to preorder our dinner, we failed to ask the price first. They charged us 1000rupees each for dinner which I think is too much. The saving grace though was, yes, it was that delicious. Best dhal and chicken curry during our 11 day stay in Sri Lanka. Also, they let us into the kitchen for an impromptu cooking class and the cook showed us everything. Even though she didn't speak english she tried showing us everything and our guide just translated for us. I guess what made her cooking unique was that she makes her own curry mix herself. Delicious.

Jungle Feeling

Tasty fresh-made dinner and good service (we wanted to do a safari in Hurulu Eco Park and in between 20 minutes the jeep was ready). The room was clean, just a little smelly. It's a good place to stay while you're in Habarana. Just notice, there's no wi-fi available.
