Great place good hostel
A truly unique location in the world heritage site. We stayed as a pit stop on the way to Skye. It was reasonably good for a family room. Fairly clean, well run and friendly. Had a walk around the area and then went in to Lanark for tea, which is somewhat at odds to the beauty of the world heritage site. Would use as a pit stop again.

Awful. We'd have legged it if we could have got working WIFI to book elsewhere!
Stayed one night as a stop off on route to elsewhere. An interesting place, well worth WH status. But too many clashing interests here, and it was definitely not the ambience I expected. I have stayed in many excellent hostels - changing own bedding, cooking etc, is no problem. The building is well conserved on the outside, but the inside feels like an institution - walls and carpets are dirty and there was a suspicious brown matter on our wall - chocolate, we hope! The soap dispenser was lying in the sink, next to a warning sign that said the water wasn't for drinking - worrying. The kitchen was very smelly - the windows should have been opened - we did this and it helped a bit. When I pointed this out, a staff member said they couldn't open the windows because of spiders, which are unhygienic... (no, I don't think so ??). Anyway, we cooked and waited for nose blindness to set in - there was no tin opener, weird for a hostel kitchen. The receptionist brought me one from her own kitchen - but it didn't work. Then the noise started - a wedding at the hotel, with banging disco music that filled the whole site. I felt for the people that live there all the year round. It finished at 12 midnight, so only 4 hours to go. The internal fit-out is so cheap and shoddy that the room we were in rattled every time someone on the floor beneath closed their door. Paper thin duvets and pillows, so I took some cushions from downstairs - no bedside lights, thank goodness we had headtorches.

Pleasant hostel in remarkable setting
Independent hostel affiliated to SYHA. Building is a renovated row of mill workers houses in the World Heritage Site of New Lanark - one of several such sites dotted around GB. The exterior looks much as it did when this place was a model industrial village during the industrial revolution. Some of the other buildings house museums, whilst others are given over to tourist amenities, local businesses and housing. The hostel building interior is new with all amenities: kitchen, dining areas and lounge, TV lounge etc. Rooms are all ensuite. No dorm accomodation. I found the place pleasant and fairly well looked after. Facilities were in good order and clean. WiFi was Ok, but not brilliant. Parking outside the hostel - don't go into the main visitor car parks - drive down into the village itself, hostel is first right once you get down there. Village is set in the bottom of a steep sided valley with the Falls of Clyde nearby - lovely woodland walks next to river and rapids. You can use the restaurant facilities at the hotel nearby (15% discount) and get discounts at other facilities in the village.

Lovely wee hostel
It's not the Ritz, and it's never going to be. But The Wee Row is a wonderful little hostel to stay in for a few nights!
I've stayed here several times now for work trips, and every time I've had no trouble booking a single room. Rooms are fairly cheap at £39 but always seem to have 2 or 3 single beds in, despite requesting a double. I'm not really bothered by this though since its just me using the room. Each room has its own shower, sink and toilet, so with up to 3 sharing you won't have to wait long to use the facilities, and presumably if you're sharing it will be with people you know!
Each time I've had a chair and mirror in the room too, but that's all. There's a TV room on the first floor that's open to everyone, and wifi is available in the communal areas but not in the rooms. There's a big dining room and kitchen downstairs that's open to everyone. Tea/coffee/sugar where all available there. Obviously wash up plates and cutlery when you're done with them, it's not a hotel! And remove your sheets when you check out.
Towels provided at check in. You can get meals in the hotel restaurant or the cafe just down the hill, and 15% off in the restaurant if you show your hostel room key! Staff have been very friendly and helpful when I've been there, happy to give directions to the nearest shops etc.
Overall a lovely place to stay if you like hostelling!

Basic but serene
Recently stayed at the Wee Row Hostel in New Lanark, we were able to check in early which was great. Got to our room, it was nice and clean but the beds were very squeaky and the mattresses weren't comfy, either hard or springy, every time you turned the spring shifted with you!
We were also right next to the landing door & it seemed that no one had an ounce of consideration towards anyone & just let the door bang over and over again so this kept me awake.
There's no staff in the building after 6/7pm and there's no phone signal so if something happens then tough tits! Someone actually tried our door handle at the back of 9pm & I just thank god I locked the door soon as we got in or god knows what could've happened! BTW, it's not a good idea to watch the Hostel movies then stay in a hostel.... Just saying lol!
Breakfast & dinner is available at the hotel 5mins walk away. We had dinner there and it was absolutely beautiful! Starters are around £6, Mains £12-£25 and Desserts £6/7 but well worth it! You also get a 15% off if you show your hostel room key!
There's a little bus that takes you to and from Lanark for a couple of £'s, that's every hour. The scenery is gorgeous, so peaceful, nice walks & a play park too.
The hostel also has a TV room, with a wee area to read or play games & you can use the hotel swimming pool for £5. Theres a kitchen too but we didn't use that.
As mentioned before, there's no staff after 7ish so you're given a door code to come & go as you please. As I said, it was a basic room (with toilet & shower) but it was clean and warm and would most likely stay again, the girl on reception was very friendly too. Room price was great.
