Sonder at Kensington- great location very clean but many stairs.

The apartment is very sweet, comfortable and in a fab location. It had two bedrooms downstairs and lounge/diner/kitchen upstairs. One bathroom downstairs with shower and one bathroom off second room without a shower. I would stay again however these are the things to note: the stairs to the top floor are hard yakka, I’m pretty fit for 53 but if you aren’t fit or have any ailments maybe this one is not for you. The kitchen is stocked well but no t’towel, no salt or pepper, no washing liquid, no laundry powder, no milk on arrival and at $850 AUD a night it would have be nice. No hooks to hang a towel in the bathroom, no hooks in the bedroom! The bed in the main room was really comfortable, and spacious! The noise outside was occasionally terrible but at night mostly very quiet. There was construction right outside which was terrible… it would have been good if o know it was happening. It created endless honking and jackhammering. Oh and one more negative the internet is almost non existent on the top floor.
Still small complaints for a well positioned apartment that we like a lot.

Very good stay at Sonder in Kensignton!

So, I recently had a stay at Sonder in Kensington, and I thought I'd share a bit about it. The place definitely had a more modern design twist, which was a refreshing change from other spots I've been to. Not flashy, just simple and sleek.
The bed? Man, I slept well. It was comfortable, but I wouldn't go as far as saying it was like sleeping on a cloud; however, it's up there with some of the better hotel beds I've tried.
One thing that genuinely surprised me was the laundry. It was included, no extra charges. I mean, who does that? I appreciated it, especially since I had been traveling a bit and needed a refresh.
The folks working there? Super chill. They weren't over-the-top or anything, but they were helpful when I had questions or needed something. It felt more like I was chatting with locals than hotel staff.
All in all, it was a good stay. Sonder in Kensington felt more laid-back and natural than some other places, which was a nice change of pace for me. Would consider it for another trip.

AVOID!

We have used and been happy with the Quality of Sonder Apartments in the past and had no reason to expect anything less than the usual standard. We feel that Sonder has grown too quickly and now really needs to focus on maintaining their apartments. We were in apartment 4.
- Outside the building is dirty and covered in cigarette butts.
- We couldn't access the building to start then when eventually in we couldn't get into the apartment (faulty key pad) over all 2 hours of waiting in 30 degree heat.
- Inside all 3 windows had broken blinds, looked terrible. Cleaners had left them down to distract from them being broken. (said maintenance would come but they never did)
- Sofa was very grubby, used a towel to cover it to sit on.
- light timer in shower, goes off after 15 seconds, ok in Summer but you would be in total darkness in Winter.
- Mold in the shower
- lots of junk mail in the entrance to the building
- grubby carpets in the hall ways.
The staff did try their best but seemed to be overwhelmed. Overheard an American family who arrived to apartment 5 say one of the beds was broken!

Great stay! Brilliant Notting Hill location and stylish apartment.

I stayed here the night before my London wedding and had an amazing time. The location was perfect with plenty of amenities nearby and the accommodation itself was lovely. I had read somewhere in the reviews that the apartment was a little small but I didn’t feel that at all. I lived in London for a long time and this was bigger than most of my flats! The setup is cool as it’s over two floors and has two bathrooms so it’s good for friends or couples etc. The apartment is stylish, beds are comfy and kitchen has everything you need. The customer service was good throughout and they even dropped by with some beautiful lilies to congratulate me and my husband to be on the wedding, and I also managed to get a later check out which was gladly appreciated the next day. One thing to note is that it is up on the top floor so there’s lots of stairs to climb, which was not an issue for us but may be for those less able or with lots of luggage.
