Known as the City of Smiles, Bacolod City offers a wide array of tourist destinations and activities to put that smile in your face. Bacolod City is almost synonymous to the Masskara Festival held during October. The Ruins
This site is the remains of the Lacson Family’s ancestral home, and currently the most photographed Bacolod tourist spot. This ancestral home is in Talisay, Negros Occidental. Built in the early 1900s, the mansion’s architecture was inspired by it’s Italian contemporaries. The house saw it’s demise during the WorldWar II when the guerilla forces burned down the building to prevent the Japanese Imperial Army on using it as their Bacolod base. Currently, the remains of the structure is a high class Ilonggo-Spanish restaurant you’ll be sure to enjoy.
San Sebastian Cathedral
TheSan Sebastian church was built in the late 19th century made fromimported materials from other Philippine provinces. The church used coralstones from Guimaras as well as hardwood from Palawan. This church is a famouspilgrimage site for Filipino Roman Catholics. Inside, you will feel thesolemnity and sacredness of this almost a century and a half old church.

The biggest floating bar in Asia can be found in Lakawon Islad, paired with clear blue waters and fine white sand, this is the place to have a perfect beach vacation. The Lakawon Island offer a lot of other activities to do while is this popular Bacolod tourist spot. You can go snorkeling, kayaking or kite surfing in the island. You could also could to just sit back and unwind by the beach side with your hammock or do sunbathing on the fine white sand beaches.
Silay Heritage Houses
Another heritage house found in Bacolod would be ones found in Silay City. Currently, Silay City is recognized as the “seat of Arts, Culture, and Ecotourism” in the Western Visayas region. The area has 28 heritage stuctures considered to be “National Treasure” by the Philippine’s National Historical Commision. The highest number of National Treasure to be found in one locality. Balay Negrense
Silayhave a lot of recognized Heritage houses and one of them is the Balay Negrense.This house was previously owned by a sugar plantation haciendero, VictorFernandez Gaston. It was built in the 1800s. After his death, the house fellinto ruins, however, it is now repurposed into a Museum by the Negros CulturalFoundation.

The Pulang Tubig Falls offers a 80-meter high water falls you could check out in Silay City. The name of the falls literally translates in “Red Water” Falls, a name it got after the Japanes occupation. Japanese Soldiers were beheaded after the fall of their headquarters found at the top of the waterfall. The water is not red anymore fortunately, but the trek towards the falls is quite long, so I suggest an early schedule.
Mambukal Mountain Resort
Aside from the Pulang Tubig, you could also explore other places in Negros Occidental like Murcia, where you could find the Mambukal Mountain Resort. This mountain resort offers Japanese like open baths that will help soothe your worries away. But if you’re up for more adventure, trek up to their waterfalls, not just one or two, this place offers seven waterfalls. The resorts also has the largest known bat in the world. Its the Giant Golden-crowned Flying Fox, so don’t forget to check that out.
Manokan Country
