Thank you for your misleading review of your interaction with reception in regards to your stay. Firstly, you contacted us at 2:36pm the day before arrival stating that she could not decide if she was staying or not with us over multiple messages where she was back and forth on her decision. Finally after an hour of deliberation she decided that she was not arriving and you were made aware that as you had booked and paid via Booking.com that it was out of our hands in regards to a "rain check" that you continued to ask for. Anything in regards to a burial was bought up after you were told we could not refund you, and you then began threatening and seeking legal action against us and we informed you that this was a Booking.com concern of which you may contact them yourselves. We also advised you that as your husband had been in hospital for days prior that there was ample time to contact us to cancel this to receive your refund, but your indecision less than 24 hours prior had our hands tied. We are sorry to hear about the circumstances around your need to stay, and your husbands medical concerns, and we do hope that he makes a full recovery. We will also keep an eye out for the "legal action" you have claimed.

Exceeded Expectations
I was looking for a reasonably priced motel that my brother and I could stay at on our regular visits to our parents in Toowoomba. As a trial, I booked Athena as it was a great price and close to our parents.
The 2 bed apartments were spacious, spotless, and offered so much. Free Unlimited WiFi and Netflix (which I didn't use as I had my own account, but it was nice to know it was available)
Xmas didn't allow for the usual opening hours, but the available services of a bar/plunge pool/restaurant/BBQ area etc etc, make me look forward to my next visit.
I hope, but expect that the motel rooms/1 bed rooms will be equally as good as the 2 bed suites, and I look forward to staying at Athena several times in 2025.

Beware tactics used. Great rooms but very poor communication skills and unscrupulous acts. Beware
I had appointment at Toowoomba hospital and it’s handy to have an exit and entry via a gait at the rear. The hospital travel office pay for accommodation for early and late appointments upon approval. On arrival they said I had to pay for half the fee as the approval form only stated 1 person. I explained that it was a mistake and as it was Sunday I said that I contact the travel office first thing to have the correct form emailed. I also stated that I would leave my vehicle with them until after my appointment etc. I clearly said 3 times DO NOT TAKE THE MONEY OUT OF MY A COUNT. And the form she asked me to sign was an agreement to pay. I put diagonal lines through the paragraph noting that PTSS to pay and initialled it. Monday morning. I saw they took my money. Casey on Sunday and the girl on Monday were rude and condescending. Was told they reversed the payment but my bank said it would take 3 to 5 business days.
I’m 70 and can’t afford such fraudulent acts and to wait that long for my money back. I have bills and need to eat. Tomorrow is my shopping day but unable due to insufficient funds. Eating poorly until money is back in my account. Not that those girls care. A policy should be made for such cases to give the client time to rectify the next day.
Beware.
And don’t bother trying to make yourselves look good as I have proof of otherwise.

I would say I'm surprised by your review, but I am not. You committed fraud, as well as illegally recorded my staff and myself after abusing us because of what you believe was an error by the hospital.
To start, we received the paperwork from the hospital that guarantees payment for the number of guests listed on the booking which is typically $77 per person, per night. As the hospital had only approved and guaranteed payment for one person being yourself, we had to collect payment for the other half of the booking for yourself which was $72 - and you were VERY much aware of this as I had told you verbally when making the booking.
I tried to contact you numerous times on the Friday before arrival that the hospital has only covered one person so that you had ample time to contact the hospital before they closed to get this fixed but you never returned my calls - only declined them.
You then sent an email to myself and the hospital stating that you would not pay it and I once again reminded you that this is the terms you agreed too when making these bookings through the hospital, and that you can apply for reimbursement from the hospital on Monday.
Check in on Sunday consisted of you abusing my staff and accusing her of taking more money than we did (we had provided you proof of payment that it was in fact only the $72 you owed that was taken). You then scribbled out the lines of terms of check in (this is what you mentioned as "the paragraph") and signed the registration paperwork.
On Monday morning, you came to check out with me and had scribbled your own terms on your government issued hospital paperwork which we cannot accept as this is a legal document. You then showed me the recording device when you tried to leave that you had "played back continuously" to try to catch my staff member the day prior in a lie which I stated I wholeheartedly stand with what she said.
We had also by this point on Monday morning received updated paperwork stating they would cover the additional person with you - who oddly enough was no where to be seen as he had to sign his own paperwork. I stopped you at your car before you left and requested you sign the correct and updated paperwork from the hospital and you forged the additional guests signature (again he was no where to be seen) in front of me. You were also made aware the refund could take up to 5 days but typically its only within 2.
This ended with me contacting the hospital and reporting the fraudulent activity, and blacklisting you.
There was zero malice or malpractice by us, as we legally have to abide by the government issues hospital paperwork - as should you, however you chose to abuse not only my own staff, but hospital staff as well - and record us all without consent (from a very expensive little gadget you had on your neck) and drove off in your new car - so I do hope that you were able to do your shopping still after you checked out.
We wish you well in your future travels, and we hope that you may continue to use the hospital PTSS system honestly and without taking advantage as we believe you have done this time.
