It’s an older, poorly designed, hotel but it’s fairly well updated and clean.
The breakfast does leave a bit to be desired considering the nightly rate.

Very good overall hotel despite a few issues
The two story lobby has an arched staircase along with some more modern design elements. Unlike a lot of Quality Inns that have this basic layout, this one does have an elevator for guest use. Once you leave the lobby area, the hotel begins to show its age - the paint on the doors and frames needs to be touched up in spots, and the elevator also wears battle scars. The hallway carpet on the second floor is uneven in the vicinity of the elevator, and could be a trip hazard.
My room was 268, which is all the way at the end of the hallway. The work desk was badly scratched up and some of the wood was splintering off. The padded footstool was also worn through in spots. There was no stopper in the bathtub. The provided TV remote was one of those limited-function universal units that wouldn't let me select the TV's external HDMI or USB inputs, despite the TV itself having plenty of both.
On the other hand, the usual Choice Hotels wi-fi issues were mostly nonexistent - I only got signed off once, and that was right at 3PM between my first and second nights, which corresponds with check-in time. The room was clean and comfortable outside of the problems I mentioned above, and overall, I was able to overlook most of them and enjoy my stay. There were some interesting furniture pieces in the room too, like the large granite table next to the upholstered chair.
I'd rank breakfast as being middle of the road - no meats available but otherwise a good spread of food. Staff service was excellent with one exception - but it did seem odd that the staffer in question (about 6:45 Tuesday morning when I came down for breakfast) couldn't take my late check-out request and told me to call down later. The lady who checked me out, however, offered me a bottle of water while I waited for my ride to arrive.
The Quality Inn & Suites Apex-Holly Springs shows its age and I did experience some minor inconveniences during my two-night visit. But at least wi-fi access wasn't among those hassles this time - and the hotel delivered on the most important thing - a room that was clean, relaxing, and reasonably priced.
