An amazing scenic resort

A beautiful and scenic resort. We had to explore to discover the beach pool area. A great place to relax after the parks with plush lounge chairs, kids movie playing on the big screen and 2 hot tubs. The one behind the water slide and grotto was empty as it’s a little hidden. Also a bar area with food was present. Our room was in the main building with a water view. Each night at 6 there was live music for about an hour. This evening was music from Phantom of the Opera. The room was spacious with a separate toilet area and large bathroom. The water pressure and temperature were a little weak. The shower was mounted and had a step for shaving which was awesome. The pillows were a bit bulky for us. I hope to check out the fitness center in the morning. This resort has plenty of food & shopping options.
We purchased the club rooms which included breakfast, a light day snack, light dinner and late night sweet. Also beverages were available and there was a happy hour.
We took the boat to the park daily.

Great All Around

Perfect location. Easy access to the complimentary boat to the parks. Also an easy walk to the parks. Many restaurants and assortment of shops on site. Several convenient pools. Staff was extremely helpful. Very easy to contact them with questions and suggestions. Always received a quick and useful response.

Beautiful professional singers show in square often ruined btw loud passers by.

We always spend an evening on our Orlando holiday at the square in Portofino hotel to watch the professional show of operatic singers on the balcony- just before sun goes down. Chris is an AWESOME world class singer-although he is not always there. The other singers are wonderful, as is the guitar player. We also love Mama Dellas who serve great food and you can also have requests played by the table in the evening by these singers. The only problem is EVERY time we try watch show people coming off boat from Universal walk across square whilst show is on and shout,talk,scream loudly,run and disrupt for people who have waited ages to see this show. Very disrespectful to singers. PORTOFINO AT THE VERY LEAST PLEASE put lots‘A’ board signs in the square and maybe a BIG sign at entrance to square by Thirsty Fish Pub to ask people to please be quiet just whilst the show is on -it’s only 20 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s clear that the operatic performances at the Portofino square are a cherished part of your Orlando holiday tradition! The care and appreciation you have for the talent of the singers, like Chris and the others, as well as the charming atmosphere with live music at Mama Della’s, really highlight how special these evenings are for you. The disruption caused by those passing through during the show is understandably frustrating, especially when it takes away from such a beautiful and anticipated experience. Your suggestion for clear signage to encourage quiet during the performance is thoughtful and would surely enhance the experience for all guests. I hope your feedback is taken into consideration, as it’s clear how much these moments mean to you and many others!

Excellent family stay at Portifino Bay!

My family stayed at Portofino Bay Hotel for 1 week while we visited Universal parks. Our stay was exceptional. We were checked in promptly by Diego who was courteous and made sure all our questions were answered.
We stayed in the Villa wing and had Club lounge access. Our room was spotless and well stocked with plenty of towels. There are K cups in the room - we had plenty. And the bathroom amenities were also well stocked.
The rooms are spacious and the bathroom is also large, making it a comfortable stay (there are 4 of us). The beds are comfortable but a bit on the softer side (at least for us).
The Club Lounge is definitely worth it for the convenience of having access to food and drinks. The food in the Club Lounge was pretty good and the staff there worked very hard to ensure guests were enjoying themselves.
Our room was serviced daily as well as in the evening (turn down service). The staff who took care of our room we're very kind and made sure we had everything we needed.
The Villa pool is so lovely and relaxing. There is a fountain by the pool and the entire area around the pool is gorgeous!
The entire hotel is well maintained and we really enjoyed the Italian themed decor and music. It's a beautiful hotel!
The staff at the front of the hotel were also helpful. We were waiting for an UBER and they made a point of asking us if we needed anything.
The shuttle or boats to the park are also convenient and fun! A great way to get to and from the parks.
Having express passes is such an amazing perk. Definitely worth it if you want to avoid long lines.
Honestly, if you find fault at this hotel, then something is probably wrong with you. We had a lovely stay (we stayed at this hotel in 2018 the last time we visited Universal) and I would not hesitate to book this hotel again for our next Universal visit.

Five Star??

First the good points. It's aesthetically beautiful. The pools are fantastic although the music at some of them is annoying. The service is excellent and the staff in our experience were all helpful and friendly. If you have park tickets at Universal the room rate gives you express passes with frequent shuttle boats to the park. The beds and bedding are very comfortable and we got a good nights sleep.
It had obviously just been decorated, or at least our room in east wing had. We noticed paint specs on the chairs and paint on the floor. The decoration was not to a high standard. Not sure if the corridors had been decorated but they looked tatty. No bath robes, no glasses apart from in the bathroom were in the room. Paper cups with the coffee maker.
It is a lovely hotel but it's not 5 stars.
