Made the convention extra nice.

The room was clean. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were just right. Everyone was outstanding and very friendly, especially Super Mario at the valet stand. He was upbeat and friendly and a gentleman while he loaded my bags in my car for me. I’ll stay here again.

Almost perfect

Very nice hotel close to a lot of restaurant choices. The lobby bar was great with a ton of seating. Limited menu very good. Service was also great. Room clean, bed comfortable and room in good condition.
Only negative is the on site restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Service horrendous and quality of food not much better. There is an independent Italian restaurant adjacent to the hotel that is great. Marriott across street has a full service Starbucks so that took care of coffee/breakfast needs in the morning.

A Mouse and an Unresponsive GM

I don’t write reviews often, and when I do, it’s usually a positive one. Not this time. This review is about my abbreviated stay at the Hilton Richmond Downtown on March 6, 2025. I say that my stay was abbreviated because a few hours after I checked in, I discovered an uninvited and unwelcome guest (i.e., a mouse) in our room (#224). I reported this matter to the front desk, and maintenance workers attempted to trap the mouse. When that didn’t work, we removed our belongings from the room (with the help of one of the maintenance men, which we very much appreciated) and advised the night auditor, Ms. Tiesha Brown, that we would like to be moved to another room. She advised that the hotel was completely sold out (which was understandable because we were there for a conference). We advised Ms. Brown that we would like to check out and take our chances finding other accommodations. She was very accommodating. She stated that she would comp our stay for that evening and provided a receipt that reflected a zero balance.
What Ms. Brown did next was unexpected and appreciated - she made several phone calls to local hotels asking if they had a room available, and if they could give us the room for the conference rate we paid at the Hilton. After numerous attempts, she was able to secure a room for us at the conference rate at the Marriott downtown (which was perfect for us because it was the conference host hotel). My interactions with Ms. Brown, the young lady who checked us in, and the very helpful maintenance man are the only positive experiences I had during my short stay.
On March 14th, I noticed that there was a charge from the Hilton on my credit card for $515.54. I called the hotel and was advised that this oversight would be taken care of and the charge would be reversed. I was also advised that I would receive a receipt that would reflect this transaction. To date, I haven’t received a corrected receipt and the charge has not been reversed. I called again on March 19th, and emailed the General Manager, Brian Koenitzer regarding this matter. When he failed to respond to my email I filed a dispute with my credit card company. Apparently, customer service (and pest control) aren’t priorities at this hotel.

Valiant Valet

Kudos to Super Mario and his energetic valet staff. They were prompt, polite and professional. Mario sets a new standard for excellent customer service.
I also enjoyed the stellar service of Ms Shandra in the restaurant. Besides giving me “Queen” energy, she made sure I was taken care of and served properly. The breakfast buffet was nice and hot and the food was delicious.

Good Stay

From the front desk on arrival and Super Mario, Morgan and the rest of the Valet crew, service and friendliness was the theme. The food options were adequate and staff friendly. The AC in the room was loud and woke me up a few times but the room was spacious. Would stay again.
