Recommend Lina for Massages!
Champneys is lovely total switch off. Great healthy food but the highlight was the massage therapist .. Lina was absolutely out of this world. She makes the champneys massage experience out of this world. We have booked in January and April and only come back for this unreal massage therapist.. for someone who has massages all over the world Lina is unreal. Champneys are very very lucky to have her!! Cannot recommend enough!

New classes been introduced. New gym equipment
Facilities are second to none. Staff are brilliant. Always kind and helpful. Front desk Debbie is very knowledgeable and helpful excellent swimming pool jacuzzi sauna and steam room. The outside space is beautiful with well kept grounds to walk and sit in. Coffee shop and the main restaurant provide great food with plenty of choice.

Great spa day
Megan who did my facial and massage was amazing. Really lovely and gave me some great ideas of how to improve my skin. The day was very relaxing and the venue not too busy. It does need a bit of work doing on the building though as it is starting to look a little tired

Morning visit to Champneys at Henlow for a pilates class and coffee.
As a member today my wife and I had a beginners Pilate class with Sofie a very personable instructor who was very patient with us all, knowable and put us through our paces. We then had a coffee in the cafe, where Toby served us, always a smile on his face, super people skills and an excellent barista. Thank you both so much.

Lovely place in desperate need of some TLC
This may be a long review but bottom line up front Champneys Henlow is a lovely place and a nice experience but I felt it doesn’t quite live up to its reputation and lacked a little attention to detail.
Booking process was online and straightforward, we chose a package with treatments included. We wanted to get some details on the treatments and perhaps pay for some upgrades but we really struggled to get a coherent response to messages and sadly we were unable to get anyone to answer the phone. We therefore arranged things as best we could over email and tried to sort the rest on arrival. This backfired a little as my wife was unable to book the facial and massage she really wanted!
On arrival check in was great, all very smooth and we were able to settle into our room very quickly. We took a look around the spa and discovered that it was exceptionally busy to the point we were unable to actually access the gym so we decided to speak to the fitness desk about class timings and see if we could book something. Sadly the fitness desk team appeared disinterested which was disappointing. We decided to make use of the outdoor running tracks and jogged around the lakes which is absolutely stunning.
On our return we went back to the spa for a swim and jacuzzi before dinner. Sadly we were unable to swim due to the volume of people in the pool and there was no seating or lounger available for us. We did manage to get a spot in a jacuzzi which was nice. We also noted that there are no showers around the pool (they are in the changing rooms) as a result people didn’t shower before getting in the pool or jacuzzi and more grimly that included people coming out of the sauna.
Dinner at Champneys was nice enough I had the halloumi starter which was sadly cold making the cheese rubbery and the bread was dried out (I guess it sat under a heat lamp) for main course the blade of beef was so tender and tasted great but the dish was let down by the grey baked potato which I suspect was reheated which gave it the grey tinge. The kale and creme freche also clashed with the jus that was on the plate. However my wife thoroughly enjoyed her meal starting with salmon and followed by a main course of a seafood pasta.
Other meals were a bit of a disappointment, for a health spa some of the processed foods didn’t seem in keeping and things like tandoori chicken lacked any tandoori flavour at all.
The highlight of the stay definitely came in the spa treatment rooms. I had a massage and have to say Jasmin was brilliant, we had a consultation and she absolutely nailed the massage and gave me great tips for additional products that would be good for me. My wife had a similar experience in her treatment with Summer.
The venue itself is tired as we wandered around it was quite sad for us to see the neglect of the building, walls with scuff marks are one thing but huge gouges from door frames that have not been dealt with highlighted to us the lack of attention to detail and lack of actual upkeep. Likewise the cleanliness was average. I couldn’t say anything felt particularly dirty but stairs with dust in the corners, heated towel rails and sink faucets with limescale definitely let it down. The worst area for me was around the restaurant we were lucky to be seated overlooking the pool, however, two things stuck out in my mind firstly the windows were grubby and smeared and secondly there are what appeared to be dead flies on the pool side of the window!
I think Champneys Henlow still has a lot to offer but I’m not convinced an overnight stay represents value for money that it used to.

If booking consecutive nights, guests are required to leave the site between these times. Guests are invited to stay on site daily between the hours of 10am and 5pm where a £70 per person per day facility charge is payable at reception on arrival. This charge does include lunch. Please note that additional charges apply for the use of the spa and restaurant facilities. Please note that after check-out, the use of the resort facilities will be subject to an additional charge. Hot breakfasts are available for an additional charge. DRESS CODE: Sportswear is permitted throughout the day. However, at dinner guests are asked to wear smart casual clothing. No work wear of any kind, including work boots, High Vis jackets or hard hats will be permitted in the dining or relaxation areas. Any person not adhering to the Champneys dress code will be politely asked to change. Champneys asks all guests to be dressed appropriately for the health spa.
